Dowton Abbey
Today I'm going to talk about a series that I find a visual pleasure. I say this in the sense of its wonderful scenery, its excellent scenographic setting, the costumes, the makeup, the decoration and all the elements that compose it. Besides that, it has a plot as meticulous as its details.
Downton Abbey is a dramatic British series produced by Carnival Films and Masterpiece for ITV and PBS. The series shows the passing of a family of the British aristocracy, as well as the passing of the servants of said house.
We could say that the conflict around which the series develops are social positions and money. The central problem is unleashed by the mayorazgo law, since due to the sinking of the Titanic and with it the inheritor, the Crawley family is left without a candidate and even without the right to live in the country house since there are only daughters in the family.
The development of the characters is amazing. They are very dynamic and complex characters. It is interesting to see how the lives of all the characters in the house intersect and relate. My favorite character is Violet, the widowed Countess of Grantham, played by an elderly woman who claims to maintain the typical English pride of the "beautiful age." Violet is played by the fabulous stage actress Maggie Smith.
